Mr. Kenneth Virgil Doby, age 79, of Dobson, NC passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.  He was born in Surry County on September 17, 1943, to the late Virgil Hobert Doby and the late Lula Wright Doby.  He attended New Hope Baptist Church, was a veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam, he was retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Thelma Shinault, Carol Doby: five brothers, Roy Doby, Troy Doby, Harold Doby, Ralph Doby, Bobby Doby.  Surviving is his wife, Laura Edwards Doby; several nieces and nephews;  A graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Monday September 11, 2023, in the cemetery of New Hope Baptist Church.  Charles Elmore will officiate the service.  In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society 7027 Albert Pick Rd Ste 104, Greensboro, NC 27409  .   Moody-Davis Funeral Home is serving the Doby family.  There will be no formal services held at the funeral home.
