Kenneth Wayne Blount

Kenneth Wayne Blount, 90, husband of Betty Johnston Blount passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 19, 2024. He was the son of the late Carey L. Blount and Bertha Light Johnston. He was also preceded in death by his step-father, Homer F. Johnston; a beloved granddaughter, Stephanie K. Smith and special cousins, Douglas R. Blount and Tony A. Light.

Kenneth was a veteran of the United States Air Force having served during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the V.F.W., the D.A.V. and the Roanoke and Salem Moose Lodges. He retired from General Electric after more than 20 years of service and then worked for McKesson-Robbins. He also enjoyed feeding the animals in his back yard.

In addition to his wife of 68 years, Betty, he will be missed and remembered by his children, Curtis Wayne Blount, Susan Kim Brown and Colleen Blount; great-grandsons, Vinny Moon and Stephon Moon whom he loved like sons; a special cousin, Wayne Blount.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 24, 2024 in the Chapel of Simpson Funeral Home with Pastor Sheldon Cosma officiating. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
