Kenneth Wayne Sargent

KENNETH WAYNE SARGENT, 62, of Rocky Gap, VA, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024. He was born October 26, 1962 in Rocky Gap, VA, the son of Geneva Stowers Buchanan & Wilbur (“Buck”) Buchanan.               

He enjoyed watching Virginia Tech football, cooking Sunday dinners, playing Rook, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, and was a big Dale Earnhardt fan. He enjoyed rock and roll music and old country music. 

He was a proud graduate of George Wythe High School where he played football.

Everywhere he went, he made new friends. He loved his family wholeheartedly and was always willing to lend a helping hand for someone when he could. 

He was preceded in death by his mother Geneva Stowers Buchanan and stepfather, Wilbur “Buck” Buchanan, grandparents Florence Ruby Stowers and Leonard Stowers, and uncle Wayne “John D” Tolbert.

Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Courtney & James Belcher and Natasha & Tyler Epperson; his grandchildren, James, Jr., Lucy, and William Belcher and Jace Epperson; his special aunt: Judy Tolbert; his special cousins, Christy Kennedy, Lisa Wright, Terri Tolbert, Kayla Kennedy, Kyle Kennedy, Korey Kennedy, Kristopher Kennedy, Charles (“Alex”) Wright, Alexis Wright, ShaeLynn Shortridge, Mary “Mary Lou” Parnell, and Shelly Sexton; his surviving siblings, Keith Sargent, Brenda Eversole and Linda Moses; two special longtime friends, John King and Joel (“Mighty Mouse”) Faulkner; along with many other extended family members; children, significant others, and grandchildren of special cousins; and friends (many from his time working at ABB). 

A remembrance of life service will be held Friday, November 29, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. at the Grandview Memory Gardens Mausoleum where his family will officiate. Burial will follow in the Grandview Memory Gardens cemetery with Pastor Cliff and Edy Bowman officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made in Kenneth’s honor made directly to A. Vest & Sons Funeral Home, 2508 Walkes Creek Valley Rd., Pearisburg, VA, 24134, to help with funeral expenses.
