Kenny "Ken" Lynn Page
Ken L. Page, 81, resident of Huddleston, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
Ken was the son of the late Hillie Elton Page and Mattie Smith Page. He graduated from B.F. Grady High School in 1961. He moved to Greensboro and married his high school sweetheart, Janice Holt Page three years later. In 1967, he was drafted into the Army and was blessed to spend eighteen months in Germany with Janice at his side for a year.
Upon returning to Greensboro, he worked full time and attended Guilford College, all while having a wife and two daughters. He earned his Bachelor's in Business Administration from Guilford in 1977.
Ken and Janice then started Systems Contractors, Inc., which they owned for 35 years. They lived in Greensboro for 45 years and were devoted members of Trinity Church. They then lived in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for fourteen years and were members of Christ United Church and Oceanview Baptist Church. In October of 2020, they moved to Huddleston, Virginia on Smith Mountain Lake where they worshipped at Eastlake Community Church. They have cherished friends and family in Duplin County, North Carolina, Greensboro, North Carolina, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia.
Known for his wit and story-telling, Ken also loved John Deere tractors, antique cars, Mooney airplanes, Harley Davidsons, skeet and pistol shooting, and World War II history. He was a highly intelligent man whose talents included newspaper editing in the Army, for which he won a Newsweek award, and was a self-taught mechanical engineer after beginning his career as a corporate accountant. Ken was a loving and caring family man that was also complimentary, encouraging, and constantly investing time in his loved ones.
Ken is survived by his precious wife, Janice Holt Page; daughter Jennifer Page Teague and son-in-law Lee of Greenville, NC; daughter Julie Page Parker and son-in-law Ronnie of Goode, Virginia; nine grandchildren: Emma Parker, Chloe Parker, Stephen Parker (& wife Kellyn), Holt Teague, Gabriel Teague, Gwyneth Parker, Brandon Parker, Luke Parker, and Hayden Parker; one brother, Larry Page and sister-in-law Geraldine, sister-in-law Brenda Page and many nieces and nephews from the Page and Holt families. He was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Jamie and Virginia Smith (Papa and Mama Jennie) and brothers, Jerome and Kirby Page.
