Kevin Andrew Whitlock Obituary Kevin Whitlock, age 72, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. He was born on May 27, 1952, to the late Paul and Ilona Whitlock.Kevin was a fanatic Hokie for life! He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1975, with a degree in Horticulture and Urban Studies and succeeded in living his life without having to use it. When he wasn’t cheering on the Hokies, he enjoyed boating and fishing, at Smith Mountain Lake where he spent many years with family and friends.Kevin was noted for being a very good golfer in his earlier days and loved his time working at the Hanging Rock Golf Club. He cheered for the Washington Redskins when they were still the Washington Redskins and, “still good” as Kevin would say.Everyone who knew Kevin would agree that his life was filled with fun and hilarious adventures – not all of which are fit to print.He is survived by his wife, Candice Whitlock; brother, Kim R. Whitlock and wife, Rosemary, of Scottsdale, Arizona; nephews, Rod Whitlock and wife, Sylvia, Rich Whitlock and wife, Martha, and Jody Whitlock; and five great-nieces and nephews, Matthew, Drew, Samantha, Zoe, and Grace.A celebration of Kevin’s life will be held on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A period of visitation will begin at 3 p.m. followed by a service at 3:30 p.m. Inurnment will immediately follow the service at Sherwood Memorial Park in Salem.Kevin was never one for coats and ties, so neat casual preferred dress with Virginia Tech wear is fondly approved.The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of the Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital Emergency Department, and the Salem Fire & Rescue for their care of Kevin.Online condolences may be expressed at www.johnmoakey.com.
