Kody Allen Cox
Kody A. Cox, 30, went to be with the lord on February 8, 2023, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family and girlfriend. He was born on June 30, 1992, in Norfolk Virginia. Kody is the son of Kristin and Bryan Ellison and David Cox. Kody graduated from Patrick Henry High School, Class of 2010. Following graduation, he moved to Virginia Beach and lived there for many years before returning to Roanoke in 2017. He had many friends from many places. He was a friend with everybody sort of person. He could be described as friendly and easy to get along with. He was someone who you could count on to be there for you, through good and hard times. Kody loved and appreciated all forms of music and you would often find him with his headphones on. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. He loved his Pittsburgh Steelers. Kody spent time serving others and helping those in need. He would give the shirt off his back to help anyone who needed it, even those he did not know personally. He enjoyed raising donations for those in difficult situations. Kody wore his heart on his sleeve. Kody is predeceased by a sister, Amanda Ellison. He is survived by his mother Kristin Ellison and husband Bryan, father David Cox and wife Connie; sister Chandler Cox, brother Grant Cox and wife Mary Gail, brother Keith Ellison, sister Kimberly Ellison and son Kameron, and sister Katelyn Ellison; grandparents John and Tawney Moller and Laura Smith; aunt and uncle Tawney and Steve Milton, John and Karla Moller, Debbie McCullough, Sandy and Manny Arispe, Charles and Shirley Chambers, Bruce Chambers, Brian and Janine Cox, and Mike and Amber Cox; many loving cousins from the east to the west coast; and his loving girlfriend Bre Campbell. The family is grateful for the team of nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists, chaplain, and many other uplifting staff at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Cardiac Critical Intensive Care Unit 7th Floor, who tended to Kody’s medical needs in his final days. The family is incredibly thankful as the team not only attended to Kody’s needs but also provided a tremendous amount of support and comfort to his loved ones during this difficult time. The family is also appreciative of the love and support they have received from Kody’s coworkers at Fork in the Market. Kody’s grandparents, John and Tawney Moller, wish to thank the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Roanoke for their friendly hospitality and shuttle service to and from the hospital. A service of remembrance will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday February 18th at Lotz Funeral Home, 305 E. Washington Ave., Vinton Virginia.
