Larry "Ax Head" Garnell Rucker

Mr. Larry Garnell “Ax Head” Rucker, age 72 of Stuart, VA passed away Tuesday, September 23, 2025. He was born in Patrick County to the late Charles Dalton and Lillian Rucker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Junior Rucker and grandparents, Nina Rucker Foster and J.E. Foster.

Larry worked at Doyle Lumber Company.

He is survived by three daughters, April Rucker of Stuart, VA, Stephanie Scales of Stuart, VA, and Savannah Scales of Collinsville, VA; two sons, Corey Rucker and Tyrone Scales both of Stuart, VA; four grandchildren, Amiyah “Mimi” Scales, Aaliyah Scales, Michael Rucker and Malik Rucker; two nieces, Helena Boyd and Ayana Boyd; six nephews, Charles “Salt” Boyd, Dalton “Dee” Boyd, Larry Boyd, Wyman Boyd, William Boyd and L.B. “Lounce” Boyd; sisterly and brotherly cousins, Tootie Rucker, Rachel Hughes, and Ronald “Ju Baby” Rucker.

A funeral service for Mr. Rucker will be held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at 3:00 P.M. at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Benjamin Redd officiating. A wake will be held one hour prior. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com
