Larry Hayden Hale
Larry Hayden Hale, Jr., 41, of Salem, Virginia, passed away on July 13, 2025. He was known for his quick wit, love of a good bet, and fearless nature. Larry lived life on his own terms: bold, spontaneous, and always up for something new. Whether it was a game of pool, a last-minute road trip, or a friendly wager, he was all in.
Though he lived with a disability, Larry never let it hold him back. Especially in his younger years, he refused to let anything keep him from doing what he wanted or chasing after the next adventure. He probably packed more life into his years than most people do in a lifetime.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Cindy Hale; his paternal grandparents, Jane and Jerry Hale; his maternal grandmother, Norma Stump; and his aunt and uncle, Charlotte and Sid Shelton.
Left to remember him are his father, Larry Hayden Hale, Sr. (Melodie); his great aunt Evelyn, better known as “E,”; his aunts, Debbie Hodges (Bobby), and Terry Saul (Larry), and Kathy Daniel (Bobby); and maternal grandfather, Wendell Johns. Larry had a large extended family and many friends, too many to list, but he valued them all. Among them was his cousin and lifelong partner-in-crime, Perry W. Hale, Jr., who stood by him through every wild idea.
Larry’s memory lives on in the stories, the laughter, and the wild ideas that always seemed to turn into adventures.
A celebration of life will be held at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem, VA, on Thursday, July 17, 2025. Close family will be received starting at 9:00 a.m., followed by public visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with funeral services immediately after.
