Laura Christine Foster
Laura Christine Foster, 90, Peacefully passed away on Friday, March 28, 2025, at her home in Madison Heights surrounded by her family.
Born on October 2, 1934, Christine was the daughter of the late Presley and Susie Thornton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Owen Foster, and her son, Randal Stuart Foster. Also preceded her in death were two incredibly special family members, Peter Presley Thornton an Sharon Pryor.
Christine is survived by two grandsons; Bryan Stuart Foster and his wife Lori of Greensboro, NC, and Benjamin Owen Foster of Monroe; two great-grandchildren, Addison Christine Foster and William Presley Foster; four siblings, Thomas Delaware “T.D.” Thornton II and his wife Ginny of Forest, Rebecca Pryor of Pleasant View, Barbara Lee Allen of Madison Heights, and Daniel Presley Thornton and his wife Melissa of Boonsboro, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
The matriarch of her family, Christine was known for her exceptional cooking skills and frequently hosted and attended family gatherings. The three sisters enjoyed visiting their favorite local restaurants and exploring winding country roads. Christine was an avid traveler, having embarked on many memorable trips. More recently, the three sisters enjoyed traveling to Myrtle beach to eat, listen to the waves, and watch the dolphins. She was a long-time member of New Prospect Baptist Church and the Big Island Garden Club. Christine cherished her roles as wife, mother, sister, daughter, grandmother, and great grandmother. She retired from General Electric after many years of service.
Christine wished to express her deep gratitude to her dedicated sister, Barbara, for the exceptional care she provided. Additionally, she wanted to acknowledge her appreciation for the support and comfort offered by Westminster at Home, Home Health & Hospice Services and Blessings of Hope.
A service celebrating her life and faith will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at Whitten Monelison Chapel with Pastor Derik Hamby officiating. Interment will follow in Allwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.
