Lawrence Dewey Davis

Lawrence Dewey Davis, 78, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023 at his residence. He was born on July 17, 1945 in Danville, VA to the late Hattie Smiley Davis and the late Dewey Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Mrs. Arlene Turner Davis.

Lawrence was a member of White Oak Worship Center where he was active in the Men’s Fellowship. He was also a member of the Improved Order of Redmen of Virginia, #124 Poquoson Tribe in Danville, VA. He worked for many years at Dan River Mills Inc., and after his retirement there, he later ran his own concession truck.

In addition to his loving wife, Lawrence is survived by a stepson; Michael Wade Turner of Danville, VA; a sister; Grace Roberts of Utah; one step grandchild; Crystal Barrett and husband Levi; and five step great grandchildren; Layla, Emma, Paisley, Amelia and Rowan Barrett.

In addition to his parents, Lawrence was predeceased by a sister; Arlene Davis and a brother; Calvin Davis.

The family suggest that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to White Oak Worship Center Building Fund, 8465 US Highway 29, Blairs, VA 24527.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 2:00pm at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Danville, VA, with Pastor Roger Ewing and Pastor Lee Ewing officiating.
