Lawrence Edwin "Larry" Sayre of Spout Spring, Virginia

Lawrence Edwin “Larry” Sayre, 81, of Spout Spring, passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022, at his residence. He was the husband of Joyce Cheatham Sayre for 61 years.

Born in Madison Mills, Ohio, on November 30, 1940, he was the son of the late William Clyde Sayre and Mildred Parsons Sayre. He was a member of Reedy Spring Baptist Church. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Robbie Dunlap and husband, Scott of Lexington, N.C., Junior Sayre of Spout Spring, Scott Sayre and wife, April of Spout Spring, Jeff Sayre and wife, Stacy of Spout Spring, and David Sayre of Appomattox; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and four brothers, Ralph Sayre and wife, Sally, Paul Sayre and wife, Carol, Lloyd Sayre and wife, Rita, and Frank Sayre all from Ohio.

He was preceded in death by five siblings, Ray Martin, Warren Sayre, Alice Sayre Chandler, Leo Sayre, and Gene Sayre.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at Reedy Spring Baptist Church with Pastor Dan Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Reedy Spring Baptist Church.
