Floyd Lee Overstreet, “Lee”; passed from this life to awaiting resurrection on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, at the age of 76. Parkinson’s disease contributed to his death. He was born in Roanoke, VA on Feb 1, 1944, the first child of the late Floyd and Olivia Overstreet.
Lee grew up in the northwest section of Roanoke, playing sandlot baseball and football and graduating from Jefferson High School. He attended both UVA and Chowan Colleges and graduated from Emery & Henry College. He was drafted into the US Army and served in Vietnam.
Lee worked for the N&W Railway in the general offices and Perry Realty before joining the family business, Northwest Hardware, in 1976, rising to President.
Lee is survived by his wife, Susan, of Richmond, his daughter Elizabeth Trumbull and husband Scott, of McClean VA, and Tiffany Jones and husband Jonas, of London, England, and grandchildren Brittany and Alexandra. Also, surviving are his sisters, Susan Leonard of Roanoke and Elizabeth Rich and husband Chris of Roanoke, his brother, Charles Overstreet and wife Pam, of Salem.
He has 5 nieces, 3 nephews, 2 great nieces and 4 great nephews.
Graveside services at Evergreen Memorial Park were private.
