Leonard Dillon

July 19, 1939 - June 11, 2025

Leonard Clifford Dillon “Cliff”, went to be with he Lord on June 11, 2025. He was at home with family by his side. Cliff was born in Princeton, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Damon and Audrey Dillon.In 1961 Cliff married Myrtle G. Dillon, his loving wife of 48 years. Cliff moved to Roanoke to work on the construction of Interstate 581. He went from there to discover his passion for driving tractor trailer trucks across this country that he loved so well. Cliff drove trucks for over 35 years until Myrtle became ill. He came off the road to take care of her for two years before returning to work driving dump trucks for Adams Paving for the remainder of his career. Cliff is a Marine Corps Veteran. He was also a fan of Nascar, Country Music and dancing. He loved going to Myrtle Beach. He and Myrtle attended many races and concerts.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harvey Dillon; daughter, Wanda Murphy; and sister Delores Baldwin Crouse, who was special to Cliff.Cliff is survived by his son, Leonard Clifford Dillon Jr. “Matt” and his wife Nancy; grandsons, Ethan and Seth Dillon (Jessica); granddaughter, Missy Simmons (Joey); great grandchildren; Allison and Logan Simmons; brother in laws, Eugene Pennington and Alonzo Crouse; also special friends, Diane Merritt and Cathy Paul.The family will receive friends, Friday, June 20, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with funeral services following at the chapel at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens in Roanoke, Va. The family would like to thank all those people involved in Cliff’s care. Special thanks to all the care givers at Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley, the wonderful people of good Samaritan Hospice and Diane Merritt.
