Leonard Foster Turner, age 78 of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday, December 22, 2022. Born in Patrick Co. on November 9, 1944 to the late Eugene B. Turner and Fannie Hall Turner. He was a proud Vietnam War Veteran and served our country in the United States Army from Oct 1966- October 1968. After being discharged he began at Fleetwood Homes where he worked 23 years. He then started with the town of Rocky Mount where he worked for 12 years until retiring in 2006. He became a life member of the DAV at Franklin Co Smith Mountain Lake chapter #60. Mr. Turner was also preceded in death by three sisters, Christine Bowman, Hazel "Polly" Booth, Cathleen Whitlow and two brothers Hansel Turner and Troy Turner. Surviving Mr. Turner are his brother Roy Turner and wife Carol and sister Eunice Turner all of Woolwine. Grandson Troy Newton of Callaway. Great Grandchildren TJ Newton, Haley Newton and Landon Boyd. Great Great Granddaughter Tatum Newton and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at the Whitlow-Griffith-Turner Family Cemetery, 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2022.
