Leonard Wayne Compton

Leonard Wayne Compton, 77, of Martinsville, VA, passed away on July 6, 2024. He was born on July 5, 1947, in Ridgeway, VA to the late John Thomas Compton and Katie Sue Compton (Bell). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by stepdaughter, Vivian Wilson of Martinsville, VA; seven brothers, Raymond Compton of Winston Salem, VA, Ray Compton of Indiana, J.D. Compton of Eden, NC, Dathred Compton, Ocie Compton, Harvey Compton, and Aubrey Compton; two sisters, Anita Smith of Reidsville, NC, and Gail Chipman of Orlando, FL.

Leonard served in the Army during the Vietnam War and received a Bronze Star. He was also a member of the Family Worship Center. Leonard graduated from Drewry Mason High School. Leonard also worked in the textile industry as a forklift driver.

Leonards’ memory will be carried on by his beloved wife, of 45 years, Lenna B. Compton; one brother, Othel Compton of Ridgeway; and several nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 10, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 11:00am at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Jonathan Goins officiating, A burial will follow at Buffalo Ridge Church God of Prophecy.
