Lettie Smith Kirby

Lettie Smith Kirby, age 82, of Danville, Virginia, went to her heavenly home on November 17, 2025, at her residence.

Ms. Kirby was born on August 25, 1943, in Hudson, North Carolina to the late Gladys McCary Cannon and Fred Cannon.

Ms. Kirby was a career registered nurse, loved her family and grandchildren as well as her animals.

Ms. Kirby is survived by her daughter, Kathy Nelson; grandchildren, Brandy Ford, Michelle Dean (Shannon), Johnny Ford (Christine); great-grandchildren, Andres Ford, Dakota Ford, Jacob Ford, Thomas Teague, Sarah Ford, Rachel Ford, Cullen Ford, and Cynthia Ford.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Tim Smith and her husband, Dwight Kirby.

A memorial service will be conducted on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Norris Funeral Services – West End Chapel with Pastor Seth Lackey officiating.
