Lewis H. Sweet

Lewis H. Sweet, Jr., age 75 of Moneta died Saturday, March 28, 2026. He was born May 24, 1950 a son of the late Lewis H. Sweet, Sr. and Frances Wiseman Sweet. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Donald “Donnie” Sweet; and special uncle, Lyle Sweet, Sr.. Lewis retired from CFW/NTELOS after 42 years of service. He served as Pastor of Story Creek Baptist Church for three years. Lewis loved the outdoors including sunset boat rides, going to get ice cream and working in his yard. His prize possession was his 1971 model Chevy truck that he bought new and kept in pristine condition. Lewis was also a member of the Elks Lodge where he served as Grand Exalted Ruler along with District Deputy. Surviving are his wife, Sharon Sweet; children, Cristi Abshire (Cory), Megan Sweet Demastus (Christopher); grandchildren, Kaylin Arroyo (Josh), Lilly Brooke Demastus, Caden Ella Demastus, Ash Sweet “Pendy” Demastus, Avery Page Abshire; great-grandchildren, Ryker Wayne Arroyo and Kolter Dean Arroyo; brother, Guy Thomas “Pete” Sweet (Peggy); sister, Alice Jean McCutheon; special brother-in-law, Billy Grove (Sharon); and special friend, Jim McDaniels. A celebration of his life will be held at Westlake Baptist Church 3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 with Pastor Justin Likens officiating.
