Linda Allen Cundiff
Linda Allen Cundiff, formerly of Chatham, VA, passed away on December 25th, after a lengthy illness and courageous battle.
Born November 9th 1947, in Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late W. Morgan Allen Sr. and Lora Hamlett Allen. She was preceded in death by her sister, Phyllis Allen Mayhew.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 57 years, Calvin Bennett Cundiff Jr.; their children, Lynn Cundiff Dwiggins of Winston-Salem, NC, Graham Bennett Cundiff of Brooklyn, NY; and granddaughter Anne Scott Elizabeth Dwiggins of Winston-Salem, NC. She is also survived by her brother, W. Morgan Allen, Jr. (Joyce); sisters in law, Vicky Tingen and Rhonda Richardson; nephews Michael Mayhew (Shelley), Brent Tingen (Ann), Stacy Tingen (Beth) and Will Richardson (Sara), her great nephews and great nieces, and special cousins along with her extended family and many friends.
Her adolescence was spent on the farm in Renan, VA, which cultivated her love for gardening, and contributed to many memories. She enjoyed Virginia history, politics and was Southern at heart. Known for her hospitality, she could prepare delicious meals or a chocolate pie on short notice when friends or family stopped for a visit. She loved traveling with her family, and special friends, and had memorable stories to share. Linda was deeply rooted in her faith and was a long time member of Chatham Baptist Church. She was an example of a loving and concerned mother prioritizing family. Her joy in life was being a grandmother. She was known as the keeper of the family and for her love of family and friends. She will be remembered for her sense of humor, determination, resilience, and will be dearly missed.
A service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 4th, 2025, at Chatham Baptist Church. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall. A private burial will follow. The family suggests memorials be made to Chatham Baptist Church, the Chatham Rescue Squad or Davie County Rescue Squad.
