Linda Kent Compton

Linda Kent Compton, 79, passed away peacefully at her residence on June 12, 2024 surrounded by her loving family. Linda was born on October 15, 1944 in Danville, VA to the late Thelma Coleman Kent and the late Jessie Kent. She was also predeceased by her loving husband of many years, Mr. Melvin Lee Compton Sr.

Linda was a member of Vandola Baptist Church. She worked for many years as a LPN for Dr. Patterson at Danville OBGYN previous to her retirement. She enjoyed camping with all of her friends and traveling with Melvin. She bowled for years with Riverside lanes and loved to dance and hang out with all of her friends. Everyone called her Mom. She loved each and every one of you.

Linda is survived by a daughter; Amy Adkins of Chatham, VA; a son; Melvin Compton Jr. (Lindy) of Jacksonville, FL; a sister; Fay Oakes; four grandchildren; Guy Goodson, Dylan South, Dustin Compton (Emily) and Spencer Burnett; and Nieces and nephews; Susan Hutcherson (Ricky), Eddie Rook (Toni) and Ronnie Oakes (Susan).

In addition to her husband and parents, Linda was predeceased by a daughter; Cynthia South, and a sister; Rebecca Jackson.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2024 at 2:00pm at Vandola Baptist Church, 1950 Vandola Church Road, Danville, VA 24541 with Dr. Scott Bortz officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville, VA. A visitation will be held on the same day prior the service from 1-2:00pm also at Vandola Baptist Church. At other times the family will receive friends and guest at the residence.
