Mrs. Linda Leola Ross York, age 72, of Elkin, passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, at Pruitt Healthcare in Elkin. She was a strong woman who loved her family who had fought a battle with her health, but God stopped by on Tuesday and healed her and said it’s time to come home. We know she walked down the golden streets and ran into the arms of her loving husband, Dwight. She then turned around hugged and kissed her granddaughter, Hannah.
            Mrs. York was born May 15, 1951, in Surry County to the late Carl L. Ross and the late Lona Mae Bray Ross. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dwight Alfred York; her granddaughter, Hannah Brady; her sister, Doris Ann Taylor; and a son-in-law, Darren Brady.
            Left to cherish her memories are her children, Lona York (Harold Davis), Alfred York, Lisa Brady (Chris Burkhart); grandchildren, Zach York (Rebecca), Heather Brady (Gary Barnes), Amber York (Stephanie), Kendra York, Leah Martin (Justin), Charity Galyean; and in the home great grandchildren, Scarlett York and Kayleigh Noah. Also several other family members; her sister Carol Brown; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Martha Pierce.
            Linda was of the Baptist faith and was a homemaker throughout her life who kept many children who loved her and called her Mema. Visitation will be Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 1:00-2:00 PM at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. Services will begin at 2:00 PM in the Moody-Davis Chapel with Rev. Tony White officiating. Burial will follow in the White Rock UMC Cemetery. The family will also receive friends at the residence of her daughter, Lona York.
            The family would like to thank Hugh Chatham Health, the staff of Pruitt Healthcare, and all the friends and family for their support. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson is serving the York family.
