Linda Wood Harper
Linda Wood Harper, 77, of Lynchburg, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025.
Born on March 25, 1948, in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late Ruben D. Wood and Sarah C. Burns. She was also preceded in death by four siblings, Clifford Wood, Elizabeth Macintosh, Phyllis Spruce, and Donald Ray Campbell.
Linda was a spirited and loving woman, affectionately described by her family as “sassy.” She had a deep love for music and could often be found dancing to her favorite country songs, especially those by Conway Twitty and Elvis Presley. She enjoyed spending time outside, tending to her flowers and working in the yard, and was always up for a good old western—Gunsmoke being her favorite. Linda also cherished long phone calls with her sisters and loved grabbing a bite to eat at Burger King.
Above all, Linda adored her family. She is survived by her daughter, Angela D. Chittum and husband Michael; her granddaughters, Brandy Staton and Danielle Staton (Jacob); and her great-grandchildren, Austin, Payton, Natalie, and Weston. She is also survived by her devoted partner of 34 years, Mac Bowling, who brought her joy and companionship for over three decades.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Pastor David Turner officiating.
