Lisa Gillenwater Wiseman

Lisa “Ann” Gillenwater Wiseman, born on Monday, November 23, 1964, left this earth on Saturday, November 26, 2022, just three days after her 58th birthday. She left peacefully in the comfort of her home in Salem, Va., in her favorite recliner (GiGi’s throne as the family called it), snuggled in her mother’s warm blanket, and surrounded by the love of her family.

She is accompanied in Heaven by her father, Ronald Gillenwater; both paternal and maternal grandparents; aunt, Sharon Puckett; uncle, Bo Vest; along with many other family members.

She is survived by her mother, Betty Gillenwater; son, Kristopher Wiseman; daughter, Chelsea McNeil and husband, Timmy; brother, Larry Gillenwater and wife, Stephanie; precious grandchildren, Thomas and Paisley McNeil, and Christian Wiseman; aunt, Judy Updike; along with other relatives and many friends.

The family thanks Kindred Hospice for their compassion and help during the week leading up to her passing. Because of them, the family was able to keep her in her home, enjoy her Christmas decorations, and keep her comfortable while being surrounded by those she loved the most. Thanks, also, to everyone who came and visited her, brought food for the family, and supported them through this hard time. They have been truly blessed. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers in the difficult days to come.

A special time for family members and friends to gather will take place on Monday, December 5, 2022, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem, Va. The memorial service and inurnment will be held privately by her family.
