Lois Merle Wray
Lois Merle Wray, age 63 went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 11, 2025 while being in the comfort and love of her family and friends.
Lois Merle was born October 25, 1961 to the late Jack and Edith Wray of Rocky Mount, VA. She was the second birth of five children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her oldest brother, Owen Wray; and niece, Heather Thurman.
Surviving to cherish her loving memory are her sisters, Cindy (Kim) Thurman and Annie (Charles) Boitnott; brother, Jackie (Melissa) Wray; nieces and nephews, Nikki (Chris) Hankins, Sarah Keaton, Jack (Taylor) Thurman, Isiah (Caitlin) Mattox, Ethan Mattox; great nieces and nephews, Mason and Haleigh Keaton, J.W. Hankins, John Keaton, Mason Roop, Daisy Thurman, Lillie Garnes and Corbin Mattox.
Lois Merle was a graduate of Franklin County High School Class of 1980. She then went to work at MW Manufacturer/PlyGem for 34 years. Lois Merle bravely and unselfishly served our country for 22 years, returning home as First Class Sergeant Wray.
Lois Merle’s greatest treasures are her family and baby Prissy. She enjoyed her flowers, humming birds, crafts and sitting on her porch. She was always willing to meet and talk with the Girl Scout Troops about her adventures as a military member, helping with multiple fundraisers for her friends and community. She joined Hodgesville Pentecostal Holiness Church and was baptized by Dr. Jackie Spence, where she professed her life to Christ.
Lois Merle was the most loving, generous, caring sister, friend and soul that anyone could ever know. To know Lois Merle was the GREATEST HONOR anyone person could ever have.
The family would like to express our sincerest gratitude to Legacy Hospice with extended thankfulness to Olivia and Lisa.
In lieu of flowers, Lois asked donations be made to St. Jude’s.
Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2025 with Dr. Jackie Spence officiating. Her family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
