Lola Dennis Dalton

June 7, 1951 - December 5, 2024

Lola Faye Dennis Dalton, a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and pillar of the Ripplemead community, passed away peacefully on December 5, 2024, at the age of 73. Born on June 7, 1951, in Giles County, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Mason Snider Sr and Panzie Ellen Elmore

Lola spent her final moments surrounded by the warmth and affection of her family in Ripplemead, Virginia, where she had made a significant impact. She leaves behind a legacy of love and commitment, mirrored in the close-knit family she nurtured throughout her life.

She is survived by her devoted sons, Mason Dennis (and wife Tena), and Thomas Smith; her loving daughters, Rebecca Trout (and husband Luther), and Stephanie Smith; and her step-son, Edward "Junior" Harris. Lola's life was further enriched by the joy of her eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, among whom two special great-granddaughters, Aliyah Dennis and Laney Akers, are expected to join the family soon. Her special granddaughter, Brandy Jo Akers (and husband Willie), held a unique place in her heart, as did her special cousin, Donnie Elmore, whom she cared for with unwavering dedication.

Lola's memory will also be cherished by her brother, James "Chuck" Dennis (and wife Sally), and her sister, Rita Bradbury (and husband Robert), along with numerous special nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly. Her family was the cornerstone of her life, and she instilled in them the values of compassion, resilience, and joy.

Before her passing, Lola was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mason Snider Sr. and Panzie Ellen Elmore; her husband, Matthew Dalton; her sister, Sarah Mitchem; and her brother, Mason Snider. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she carried their memories with grace and affection.

Lola's professional life was marked by her skilled craftsmanship in masonry, a trade where she not only excelled but also found great satisfaction. Her work can still be seen and admired in structures across the region, standing as a testament to her attention to detail and her passion for her craft. Beyond this craft, Lola's role as a caregiver was perhaps her most cherished occupation, as she provided comfort and support to those in her care, including her special cousin, Donnie Elmore.

A woman of many interests, Lola's love for dancing, cooking, and socializing was well-known. She was an active member of the Dublin Moose Lodge Family, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the community's spirit. Her presence at the lodge will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of sharing a dance or a meal with her.

Lola's life was a dance of strength, perseverance, and love. Her kitchen was often filled with the aroma of her delicious cooking, and her laughter was the music that kept her family's spirits high. Her masonry work will stand as a lasting symbol of her ability to create beauty and stability, just as she did within her family.
