Lora Elizabeth Drinkard
Lora Elizabeth Drinkard, 49, passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on August 6, 2025.
Lora’s life was defined by her strong faith in God, boundless compassion, and a heart dedicated to serving others.
Throughout her life, Lora bravely endured countless hospital visits with remarkable strength and resilience. Even in the hardest times, she never lost her faith in God and never let setbacks keep her back.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Peggy Drinkard, and father, William “Billy” Drinkard. She was a devoted sister to Leah Galatro, wife of Mark Galatro, but she was most proud of being an auntie to her nieces and nephew—Ava, Dylan, and Gianna Galatro—who were doted on and loved beyond measure. She also leaves behind her beloved cat TikTok.
Lora is also survived by her godsister, Jennifer Guedri, and a lifelong, “little sister” Jessica Barger-Johnson and countless friends and family.
The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Bill Moore for his compassionate care in the emergency department and Dr. Richard Miller, her longtime physician. We extend our appreciation to KatyBeth Parr and all the staff at Centra. Thanks to Centra Specialty Hospital, where she was treated like family during her many extended stays. Your compassion and care will never be forgotten.
Her legacy of faith, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
A service to celebrate Lora’s life will be held on Monday, August 11 at 6:00 p.m. at Timberlake Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society or Timberlake Church, two places that meant a great deal to her.
