Loretta Horton
Ms. Loretta Kersey Horton, age 87, of Covington, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Roanoke.
         Ms. Horton was born January 5, 1938 in White Sulphur Springs, WV, the daughter of the late Lewis Lake Kersey and Julia Alexander Kersey.  A resident of this community since 1948.  She was a graduate of Covington High School, Class of 1955.  She had been employed as a receiving clerk, first at K-Mart and then finishing at Wal-Mart for a number of years before her retirement.  Loretta was a long-time member of Temple Baptist Church, she loved her church, especially her treats from “Young at Heart”.  She truly enjoyed her “sister time” where she and her sisters got together to talk, laugh and spend time with each other even having a slumber party together.  She loved gardening and had a green thumb for her flowers, especially her Christmas cactus.  Loretta also enjoyed having her family over for family gatherings and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Loretta also enjoyed going out to eat breakfast together.
        Ms. Horton is survived by her son Jeffrey Alan Horton of Christiansburg.  A daughter Joan Horton Teubert and her husband Chris of Lewisburg.  Five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.  Two sisters, June Walton of Covington, Phyllis Campbell and her husband Ronnie of Covington.  Her beloved David G. Craft of Covington.  One sister-in-law, Reba Champion and husband Tommy of New Jersey.  Many nieces and nephews.
        In addition to her parents, was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Kersey Hazen.  Two sister-in-law’s, Ann Rickett and Frances Besser.
        A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00pm Thursday, November 6th, 2025 at the Temple Baptist Church with Rev. John Ballard officiating, assisted by Rev. Bill Hartsfield.  Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
        The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 7:00pm until 8:30pm at Loving Funeral Home.
