Lorna Jane (Lombardi) Eldred

- November 6, 2024

Lorna Jane (Lombardi) Eldred unexpectedly left us on November 6, 2024. Lorna was born on April 7, 1959 in Kenosha, WI—the first of five children born to Charles and Arlene Lombardi.

She found the love of her life in Kevin Newton Eldred whom she married on July 24, 1982. Together, they devoted their lives to their two daughters Melanie and Julia. They enjoyed going on family vacations, hearing live music, and cheering for the Green Bay Packers. They spent most of their lives in Kenosha, WI before moving to Richmond, VA.

Lorna had a great eye for art and design. She also enjoyed classic rock, sharing movie recommendations, and chatting on the phone. She was dedicated to her family, especially her parents in their later years and her nephew Richard Lombardi who she thought of as a son.

After the untimely loss of her husband Kevin in 2012, Lorna found new purpose in the lives of the five grandchildren who called her Gaga. She loved nothing more than being surrounded by her growing family. Over the past few years, she lived next door to Melanie and provided daily support, care, and attention to her beloved grandchildren. Whenever the kids would surprise Gaga with a visit, she always welcomed them with treats and hugs.

The foundation of her family, Lorna will be remembered for the limitless devotion and joy she she shared with her loved ones.

She is survived by her daughters Melanie (Jarred) Walters and Julia (Ryan) Kindred; mother Arlene Lombardi; sisters Deanna (Rod) Pappas and Gina Lombardi; brother Charles (Pam) Lombardi; sister-in-law Joan (Steve) Elger; brother-in-law Larry (Rachel) Eldred; and grandchildren Everly, Nash, Elsie, Shiloh, and Dax.

She is preceded in death by her husband Kevin Eldred, brother Rick Lombardi, and sister-in-law Barb (Bob) Gray.

Lorna’s father Charles Lombardi passed away a few short weeks after her. A memorial service will be held to honor them both on Friday, December 20th at 5:00pm at Holy Rosary Church followed by a reception at the Italian American Society.
