Lorraine Carter Brown

Lorraine Carter Brown, age 93, of Pittsylvania County, VA passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. She was born March 21, 1932, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, a daughter of the late Robert Clarence Carter and the late Julia Haley Carter. 

Lorraine lived all her life in the Danville and Pittsylvania County areas, making her home in the Mount Hermon community, and was a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church.

She was a graduate of George Washington High School and retired from Dan River Mills, Inc., with 45 years of service in the Corporate Financial Accounting Department. She was married to the late Leftridge Vann Brown on February 11, 1956. He predeceased her on February 25, 2007.

Survivors include four nieces, Cynthia A. Turner, of Douglasville, GA, Nancy A. Cross of Franklin, TN, Marsha C. Garren of Ridgeway, VA, and Brenda C. Minter of Waxhaw, NC, and one nephew, Roy A. Adams “Jackie” III, of Winston, GA, as well as a number of great and great-great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was also predeceased by her first husband, Theodore E. Wilson in 1953; sisters, Annette C. Peters and Myrtle C. Adams; and a brother, Robert C. Carter, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Norris Funeral Home, Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA officiated by Rev. Steve Zimmerman.

Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park, Danville. A visitation of friends will be held one hour prior to the funeral, from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., also at the Mt. Hermon Chapel of Norris Funeral Home.
