Lorrine Shumate Dawson

Lorrine Shumate Dawson, 74, of Danville, VA passed away on May 22, 2023. She was born on September 16, 1948 in Danville, VA to the late Dora Bell Karnes Shumate and the late George Spangler Shumate. She is survived by her loving husband Lester “L.B.” Bailey Dawson Jr. of 55 years.

Lorrine attended Third Avenue Church and she worked as an inspector at Corning Inc. for twenty five years before retiring.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter; Christy Collie (Blake) of Danville, VA., grandchildren; Abbigail and Corbin Collie.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son; Thomas “Tommy” William Dawson, brother; Carroll Wayne Shumate and wife Marlene.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 11:00AM at Danville Memorial Gardens with Pastor Freddie Vicks officiating.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations be made to St. Judes Hospital.
