Louis Edward Kidd

July 15, 1929 - December 31, 2024

Louis Edward “Ed” Kidd, passed away peacefully in his home on December 31, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Born on July 15, 1929, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Ed was the son of the late Ivan Roy Kidd and Grace Evelyn Worley. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Vivian Burks Kidd, as well as two brothers, Ivan Roy Kidd and Melville Kidd.

Ed is survived by his two daughters, Vickey Kidd Blake (Calvin) and Lisa Kidd Hudson (Ray). He will be dearly missed by his six grandchildren: Lorri Blake McQueary (Russell), Jennifer Lynn Blake (Steve), Scott Marshall Blake (Erin), Staci Blake Loeffler (Scott), Danielle Hudson Parker (Jason), and Colton Ray Hudson (Lexy). He was also the proud grandfather of 11 great-grandchildren: Aidan Parker, Blake McQueary, Cooper Loeffler, Rowan McQueary, Maverick Loeffler, Wyatt Loeffler, Declan Blake, Weston Petty, Callan Blake, Vivian Hudson, and Valerie Hudson. Ed is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Ed served his country with honor in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his service, he worked as a mechanic at Lynchburg Foundry for 25 years, where he was known for his dedication and expertise. Following his retirement, Ed remained active, delivering newspapers for the News and Advance for several years. He found joy in many hobbies, including fishing, bowling, tending to his yard, and restoring old cars to sell.

A special thank you goes to Centra Hospice for their compassionate care during his final days, and a heartfelt appreciation to Christie Bray for her extra time and patience in looking after Ed during his illness.

A visitation for family and friends for Ed will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Whitten Monelison Chapel, 3966 S Amherst Hwy, Madison Heights.

Ed will be remembered for his loving heart, hard work, and the joy he brought to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
