Loyd Irvin Gauldin

November 28, 1943 - October 5, 2024

Loyd Irvin Gauldin, age 80, of Keeling, VA, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born November 28, 1943, in Danville, VA to the late Mary Lou Revis Gauldin and the late Loyd Jefferson Gauldin. He was married to Betty Adkins Gauldin, who survives, of the residence.

Loyd was a member of Keeling Baptist Church and worked most of his life as a Supervisor of Maintenance and Carpentry in various manufacturing and building companies. Loyd grew up on a farm, with a large family. He loved the Lord, his children, and grandchildren. He was a kind and gracious man to all he encountered.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carrie Lynn Hutchens (Pete) of Reidsville, NC and Karen Lea Gauldin of Pelham, NC; a son, Loyd Irvin Gauldin, Jr. of Pelham, NC; five sisters, Peggy Davis of Mountain Hill, VA, Katie Nunn, Joan Wyatt (Hugh), and Mary Lou Gauldin, all of Ringgold, VA; grandchildren, Travis Gauldin, Patrick Hutchens, Jr., Randall Custer, Hunter Gauldin, and Payton Rose Hutchens as well as a great-grandchild, River Custer.

Loyd was predeceased by his parents, a sister, Shirley Nunn, stepson, Jonathan Custer, three brothers, Ernest, Calvin, and Bob Gauldin, as well as three brothers-in-law, William Davis, Edward Nunn, and Roy Nunn.

A visitation of friends will be held Tuesday October 8, 2024, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.

Following the visitation, a funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. also at the West End Chapel of Norris Funeral Services, officiated by Pastor Patrick Hutchens, Sr. and Pastor Avery Stevens. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens.
