Lucille Nancy Blackwell

Lucille Nancy Ingram Blackwell, 88, of Danville, VA passed away Sunday, June 25, 2023, at her residence. Mrs. Blackwell was born October 31, 1934 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Wesley Eugene Ingram and the late Nancy Brandon Ingram.

Mrs. Blackwell attended Caswell County Public Schools, and early in life she became a member of Smith Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. She then joined the usher board. On May 2006 she became Mother of the Church. She worked for many years and retired from Stratford Inn, Danville, VA.

She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Oscar Blackwell and two daughters, Teresa Edmunds and Paula Foust of Danville, one special stepdaughter, Rita-Ann Saunders. In addition, she leaves behind three sisters, Martha Bassett of Pelham, NC, Alberta McCaden of Stamford, CT, Shirley Statum of Greenville, NC, one brother, Curtis Ingram of Danville, two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Blackwell and Druanne Blackwell, both of Danville, as well as one brother-in-law, Ruffus Blackwell, Jr. of NJ, 11 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by one son, James Ingram and one daughter, Queen Brown.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 511 Church Ave., Danville, VA 24541 with Rev. Tyrone Graham officiating. Interment will follow at Smith Chapel Cemetery, 94 Smith Chapel Rd., Pelham, NC 27311. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.
