Mabel Flora Angell
Mabel Flora Angell of Boones Mill, VA, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2024. She was born October 6, 1923 a daughter of the late Daniel J. Flora and Stella Peters Flora all of Boones Mill. Mabel was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Harless H. Angell; two siblings, brother, Galen Dee Flora and sister, Clyde Wood Bowman. Mabel will always be remembered as a kind hearted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a friend to all who knew her. She lived her entire life in the Bethlehem community in Boones Mill. She was a long and faithful member of Bethlehem Church of the Brethren where she fulfilled her calling. Using her talents with crafts and creative imagination she was there for the young children, to greet, play with, pray with, read them bible stories and teach them about Jesus. She was serving God in the things she did and by being an example was teaching them about faith and following Jesus. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy A. Flora and husband Larry; sons, Daniel L. Angell and wife Dianne, Garland H. Angell, Bobby L. Angell and wife Jean, Wesley C. Angell and wife Tammy; grandchildren, Matthew Flora (Monica), Georginea Johnson (Chris), Julia Angell, Carolyn Davis (Roy), David Angell (Allison), Katelyn Angell, Kelsey Boone (Jack); step-grandchildren, Raymond L. Simpkins II and Court Simpkins; great-grandchildren, sister Jewell F. Bowman and brother Earl B. Flora (Janet), along with numerous loving extended family members. Also surviving are caregivers Pam Vandergrift and Crystal Steele who became like family while she was able to stay in her home. She received exceptional care by the team of Helen Cooper at Heart and Hands where she resided for nearly two years. Her family would like to thank all caregivers and Franklin County Hospice for the excellent care they gave. Funeral services will be held at Bethlehem Church of the Brethren, 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024 with Pastor Tony Emmons officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
