Mable Louise Martin

Mable Louise Martin, 87, of Kernersville, North Carolina, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2025. She was born July 25, 1938, in Petersburg, Virginia to the late Estelle Norman.

In addition to her mother, Estelle Norman, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kim Lawan Martin; grandfather, John Henry Norman; brothers, Willie Norman and Frank Norman.

Mable was a dedicated bus driver for thirty-one years, safely transporting and caring for generations of children throughout her career. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Church, where her kind spirit and warm smile were felt by all who knew her. She had a deep love for reading and found joy in cooking for those she loved. Her devotion to both her family and church family was unwavering. Mable touched many lives with her gentle heart, selflessness, and quiet strength.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Howard R. Martin, Sr., sons, Vince Martin (Chama) and Howard R. Martin, Jr. (Elena); six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Thursday, July 31, 2025, 12:00 PM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 338 John Baker Road, Fieldale, Virginia, with Reverand Harold Carelock officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service.
