Maggie Gravely
Maggie Turner Gravely, 81, entered her heavenly rest Thursday, July 17, 2025, at Sovah Health in Martinsville, Virginia. She was born September 10, 1943, in Martinsville to the late William Gravely and Annie Mae Turner Gravely.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Henry Gravely; daughter, Bertha Tolliver; sister, Mattie Eastland; and brothers, Douglas Gravely and Dennis Gravely.
Maggie was of the Christian faith and a dedicated member of Fresh Start Praise & Worship in Axton, Virginia. She worked for the Martinsville Public School System for 37 years. She could often be found cooking delicious meals or baking cakes. When she wasn’t cooking, she was working in the yard and tending to flowers. Everyone who knew her knew she loved her pocketbooks. She was deeply loved and will be missed by her family and friends.
She will be fondly remembered by her son, Gary Gravely of Axton; sisters, Debra Gravely of Martinsville and Sally Trotter (David) of Rocky Mount; brothers, Joseph Gravely (Gloria) of Martinsville, Jimmie Gravely (Margaret) of Roanoke; grandchildren, Bridget Tolliver, Toya Tolliver, Keith Tolliver; two great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. They will be receiving family and friends at 612 Fayette Street.
