Margaret Lowe Dean

May 13, 1931 - September 20, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Margaret Lowe Dean, affectionately known as “Nannie,” who left this world peacefully on 9/20/25 at the age of 94.

Nannie was the heart and foundation of our family. From the moment she welcomed her four children into the world, our family grew and blossomed under her love, wisdom, and care. Her home was always a place of warmth, laughter, and togetherness, where she nurtured not only her children but also generations that followed.

A woman of remarkable talent, Nannie was an extraordinary seamstress, a gifted chef, and a devoted baker. She stitched clothes with love, filled kitchens with delicious meals, and baked with a sweetness that reflected her spirit. Her gifts touched all of us, and her traditions will continue to be carried forward by those who loved her most.

Nannie’s legacy is one of love, strength, and family. She showed us what it means to care deeply, work hard, and cherish every moment with those we hold dear.

Nannie is preceded by her loving husband of 72 years, Donald Clifford Dean, and her parents Alta and Verna Lowe. She is survived by her children Donna Dean Hodges and husband Robert, Paul Vernan Dean and wife Diane, Doris Louise Roberts and husband Michael, and Terri Lynne Walls. In addition, she is survived by her 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 12 great great grandchildren who will continue to honor her memory by living with the love and devotion she modeled every day.

A celebration of Nannie’s life will be held on 9/24 at Simpson Funeral Home. Family and friends are welcome to attend and share in honoring her remarkable life at both her visitation starting at 12:00pm and her celebration of life at 1:00pm.

Though she is no longer with us in body, Nannie’s spirit will forever live on in our hearts, in our family gatherings, and in the love that binds us all together. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home (540)366-0707.
