Maria Elena Carreon Burns-Carrara

Maria Carreon Burns-Carrara, 33, wife of Jonathan K. Burns-Carrara, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024. She was the daughter of Saul and Juanita Citizen Carreon. She was preceded in death by a son, Vinnichi Neeko Carrara.

Maria was born and raised in Roanoke and worked as a hairstylist. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and was faithful to her church family.

In addition to her husband and her parents, she will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Gionna Carrara; her siblings, Andreka Robert, Herminio Carreon, and Saul Carreon, Jr.; a multitude of nieces and nephews; as well as numerous other loving family and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2024 at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, 5070 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA.
