Maria Goodman Long departed this earthly life on Christmas Eve, Saturday, December 24, 2022, after suffering injuries from a fall at her home. She lived 72 fruitful years of life in Franklin County. She retired as the Administrative Assistant to Child Service Administration after many years of service. She was the daughter of Gertrude Alexander Goodman and John Wesley Goodman. She is survived by her son, Stephen Long a resident of Tyler, Texas; a granddaughter, Tika Long also of Tyler, Texas; brothers, John Wesley Goodman III, Rex Allen Goodman, James Curtis Goodman of Martinsville, VA and Ronald Goodman of Richmond, VA. She is also survived by two very special first cousins, Ralph C. Taylor of Chapel Hill, North Carolina and William N. Alexander II, of Rocky Mount, VA. with whom she maintained special relationships throughout her life. She also leaves a host of friends who worked and volunteered with her at “The Harvester” in Rocky Mount. She loved music and particularly music to which she could line dance with her friends, which she did frequently. Friends may visit and leave condolences at Flora Funeral Service on Monday, January 2, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow at Franklin Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
