Marie Ann Parker Matherly

Marie Ann Parker Matherly, age 87 of Dry Fork, VA passed away Friday, December 12, 2025, at the residence of her daughter in Dry Fork. Mrs. Matherly was born on December 20, 1937, in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Willie Wade Parker and the late Clincie Dalton Parker. She was married to the late George H. Matherly. Mrs. Matherly was a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who always loved her family dearly.

Mrs. Matherly is survived by two daughters, Betty H. Pruitt and Sandra H. Wimmer (Ed), both of Dry Fork, a brother, Marvin “Ray” Parker of Gretna, VA, two sisters, Hazel Bates of Dry Fork and Mary Adkins (Pete) of Danville, grandchildren, Mathew Moser (Liz) of Danville, Edward Wimmer, Jr. (Lauren), of Dry Fork, and great-grandson, Ace Moser Cervantes, also of Danville. In addition, she is survived by three family “fur babies”, Butta, Woody, and Rook.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Matherly was predeceased by two brothers, Dewey Parker and Harvey Parker.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville with Pastor Mike Hearp officiating.
