Marilyn Nichols Matherly

Marilyn Nichols Matherly, 76, passed away on June 22, 2023. She was born May 4, 1947 in Leaksville, NC to the late Ercelle Clare Burch Nichols and the late Arthur Eugene Nichols. She was predeceased by her husband Mark Anthony Matherly and her first husband George Craig who was the father of her children.

Marilyn was a member of Victory Baptist Church and attended Community Baptist Church. She worked as a nursing assistant at Roman Eagle Nursing Home and retired from Dan River Mills in the sewing room after thirty-seven years.

She is survived by her daughters; Carolyn Renee Craig of Dry Fork, VA, Jennifer Craig East (Hughie) of Chatham, VA, brothers; Arthur “Gene” Nichols II (Deloras), Kelly “Dale” Nichols, Stephen Nichols (Cindy), grandchildren; Ashley Alverson, Blaine Conner, Brooke Fetters, Brandon Craig, Kaleigh East, Kelly Yates, Timothy East, Austin East, great-grandchildren; Kendall Ryan, Christopher, Lucas, Matthew and Oaklee Conner, Austin, Joshua, Jaylynn, Cameron McConnell, Devon and Jaxson Fetters, Wyatt, Conner, Greyson Yates and Nova East.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was predeceased by her daughter; Amy Craig Fetters, granddaughter; Jessica McConnell, great-granddaughter; Jordan McConnell.

A visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA. At other times the family will receive friends at the residence.

A funeral will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 at 1:00PM at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Ray Mintz officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park.
