Marjorie St. John Viar
Marjorie St. John Viar, 89, of Madison Heights passed away surrounded by those she loved on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was the daughter of the late C.T. St. John and Nelda Robertson St. John.
Born March 22, 1936 Marjorie was a devoted and hardworking woman who served her community with pride as an operator for Verizon, formerly C&P Telephone. A faithful and loyal member of Sandy Bottom Christian Church, she found strength and joy in her faith.
She had a deep love for the outdoors, especially the ocean. The sun, the water, and the peacefulness of the shore brought her a sense of calm. In her younger years, Marjorie expressed her creativity through painting, often capturing the beauty of still-life scenes with care and detail.
She cherished time spent with loved ones, whether it was dining out with family and friends or simply being together. Family was always at the center of her world—her love for them was unwavering, and she would do anything for their happiness.
Marjorie also enjoyed decorating her home with lighthouse figurines, small reminders of the sea she adored. Her warmth, generosity, and love left a lasting impact on those around her. She was deeply loved and will be missed beyond words.
In addition to her parents Marjorie was preceded in passing by her sister, Iris Nuckles and her husband R.B. Nuckles.
Those left to cherish Marjorie’s memory include her adoring husband of 68 years Ralph H. Viar, Jr.; her children Jeffrey H. Viar and his wife Teresa, Brett D. Viar and his wife Christina; her grandchildren Connor Viar, Megan Paxton, Dustin Viar, Scott Viar, Paige Hurt; her sister Geraldine Campbell; and her five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 4-6pm on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A Celebration of Life service will be held Monday, June 9th, 2025 at 1pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel Officiated by Pastor Jeffrey Campbell, with interment to follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
