Mark Louis Jefferson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and brother, Mark Louis Jefferson, on Friday, July 14, 2023 in Durham, NC. Mr. Jefferson was born on July 1, 1956 in Danville, VA to the late Louis Robert Jefferson and the late Virginia Estes Jefferson. He was married to his loving wife, Debbie Gardner Jefferson for 40 years. Mr. Jefferson worked for Times Fiber for 10 years and later in life he retired from Goodyear Tire after working 22 years. Mark loved to play golf and he was passionate about his UNC basketball team and the Washington Commanders football team. He was a man of few words and loved his family dearly.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Michael Aaron Jefferson of the home and sadly was predeceased by his son, Adam Scott Jefferson in 2022. Mr. Jefferson is also survived by his brother, Mike Jefferson of Ocean Isle, NC and two sisters, Vickie Jefferson Love (Tim) and Jan Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson is also survived by his sister-in-law Cindy Carter (Terry). He will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Ginny Williams (Joe), Bobby Jefferson (Nicole), April Love-Loveless (Kevin), Ethan Hawker (Gillie), Evan Hawker, Bobbie Jo Gupton, and Ryan Gupton (Catherine), as well as several great-nieces and nephews.

Mr. Jefferson was predeceased by his parents, his son, Adam, and a sister-in-law, Pat Jefferson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 17, 2023 at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel, 600 Church Ave., Danville, officiated by the Rev. David Turbyfill. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service begins (from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.), also at Norris Funeral Services, West End Chapel.
