Mark Rowland Davis, 76, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many.
Born on September 7, 1947, in Front Royal, Virginia, he was a son of the late William and Cora Jane Reid Davis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Sterling Davis and nephew, Price Davis.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Yun Hui; his daughters, Gina Kelley (Tim) of Charlottesville, Virginia, and Elizabeth Amacher (Mike) of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and his grandson, Dylan Kelley. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Mark was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He graduated from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with degrees in Forestry and Wildlife Management. Mark worked for the Robert E. Lee Soil and Water Conservation District and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). He was a District Conservationist for the Rustburg Service Area and took great pride in helping local farmers install conservation practices on their land. Landowners spoke highly of Mark well after his retirement.
Mark was a kind man who was devoted to his family. He had a sharp intellect and many interests including reading, hunting, and fishing (especially with his brother and nephew), walking the woods, checking timber sites, and tending to his many collections. He cherished his many pet dogs through the years.
A memorial mass and celebration of life service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Appomattox on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 1 p.m. A reception will follow at the church where his family looks forward to receiving visitors.
