Mark Waldron

November 27, 1965 - August 29, 2023

Mark Alan Waldron, 57 moved to his heavenly home on August 29, 2023.

“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now, there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day and not only me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Mark was born in Martinsville, Va., on November 27, 1965. He was the son of the late Coy Sowder and Nell Thornton Waldron who survives; and adopted father, Neal Waldron.

Mark was a great friend but was an even better family man. He loved to be outdoors, hunting, fishing, grilling, and spending time with those he loved. Mark always had a dog by his side and truly enjoyed life.

In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by his beloved wife of 20 years, Marie Waldron; sons, Zach Martin (Ashley) and Blake Martin (Brittany); three granddaughters: Brielle, Lillian, and Emersyn Martin; mother-in-law, Barbara Harris; sister, Kelly Proffitt (Ron); nephew, Brett Stone (Amanda); nieces, Abby and Kara Proffitt; great-niece, Saylor Stone; step-brother, Greg Waldron; aunt, Linda Stone; uncle, Russell Thornton (Iris); and many cousins.

Mark was preceded in death by fathers Coy Sowder and Neal Waldron; father-in-law, Lacy Harris; grandparents, Paul and Marlene Thornton; Dorothy Thornton; and Mary Lee and James Sowder; aunt, Ann Key, uncle, Bill Sowder, and cousin, Rusty Thornton.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of those who have supported Mark and Marie over the past several months, especially their loving neighbors Wayne and Becky Goad, and Steve and Mary Ann Preston.

A Celebration of Life Service to honor Mark Alan Waldron will be held on Sunday September 10, 2023 at 3:30 PM at The Clearview Gospel Mission in Martinsville, Virginia.
