Marlene Keener
Marlene Jean (Kundla) Keener, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at Friendship Salem Terrace in Salem, Va.
Born on December 10, 1940, in Indiana, Pa., Marlene grew up in the small, once-coal mining town of Graceton, Pa. In 1958, she graduated from Laura Lamar High School in Homer City, Pa. She then married and had two children, settling in Ligonier, Pa., where she worked as a dental assistant. Following a divorce, she moved to Latrobe, Pa., where she met and married Ronald Keener, a mechanical engineer with Hercules Corporation. They resided in West Mifflin, Pa., for several years before retiring to Roanoke, Va. During that time, Marlene worked for the accounting firm of Kennett and Kennett, volunteered for LewisGale Hospital, golfed with several women’s clubs, and attended Salem Presbyterian Church.
Marlene was preceded in death by parents, John Kundla, Jr. and Mary (Borish) Kundla of Graceton, P.; and husband, Ronald Keener.
She is survived by her children, Cynthia and Douglas; as well as her brothers, Kenneth Kundla (wife Sandra), James Kundla (wife Sandy), and Robert Kundla (wife Karen); and several nieces and nephews.
A special service is being planned for Marlene in the near future for family and friends.
