Martha Ann Compton Moser
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martha Ann Compton Moser, age 69, who departed this life peacefully at her residence on September 23, 2024. Born on November 16, 1954, in the picturesque Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of the late Lilian Ruth Keatts Compton and the late Hubert Marshall Compton. Martha's vibrant spirit and compassionate nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on her family and community.
Martha is survived by her devoted husband, Mr. Jesse Leon Moser, with whom she shared an enduring and loving marriage for 52 years. Their bond was a testament to loyalty and deep affection, built on shared dreams and countless cherished memories.
A woman of deep faith, Martha was an active member of The Axton Chapel, where she found joy and solace in her spiritual community. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, influencing her kindness, generosity, and embrace of others. Known for her infectious smile and warmth, she lived her life with an open heart, welcoming everyone with open arms and ensuring that no one ever felt like a stranger in her presence.
Martha exemplified hard work and entrepreneurship, successfully running her own lawn care business for many years before her well-deserved retirement. Her commitment to service also extended to her earlier years when she worked at Bassett Walker. Her work ethic and dedication to her craft earned her the respect and admiration of her clients and colleagues alike.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Martha was a loving and devoted mother to five children: Tracy Moser of Chatham, Dennis Moser of North Carolina, Crystal Sierra and her husband Hector of Cascade, Beverly Day and her husband Joseph of North Carolina, and Jessica Moser of Chatham, Virginia. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her own children, as she embraced the children of her late sister, raising Samantha Price, Johnathan Walden, Leah Walden, and Crystal Walden as her own.
Martha was the proud grandmother of 13 grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart: Trinity Custer, Harley Moser, D.J. Moser, Casey Moser, Damian Day, Noah Day, Jordan Day (with partner Jocelyn), Alexia Day, Alex Day, Jaylen Day, Jakoby Casselman, Piper Walden, and A’nyla Bradley. Additionally, she was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Dallas Moser, Jesse Moser, Ari Averett, Zahra Day, all of whom brought immense joy to her life.
Martha’s legacy also includes her younger brother, Earl Compton, and the love she shared with her family and friends. She was predeceased by two sisters, Betty Walden and Linda Compton, and three brothers, James Compton, Wayne Compton, and Dickie Lewis Compton, all of whom she cherished deeply.
An avid lover of the outdoors, Martha enjoyed spending time in nature, creating lasting memories with her family. Her three canine companions—Zoe, Rosco, Gabby, and Cocoa—were not simply pets but integral members of her family, reflecting her loving and nurturing spirit.
