Martha Sue Meredith

Matha Sue Wertz Meredith, 86, widow of David M. Meredith, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was the daughter of the late James and Barbara Gusler Wertz. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Meredith Meador; a son, Jay Preston Meredith; a son-in-law, Sampson George Vincent.

Martha was a 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School where she was Homecoming Queen, and on many committees, she went on to graduate from National Business College. She worked for her family’s business, Wertz Florist and then for many years at Owens & Co. Realtors. Martha was a long-time member of Rosalind Hills Baptist Church and a lover of animals, at one time having 9 dogs but her favorite fur babies were her dog “Monkey” and her cat “Mercury”. She was an avid reader, and also loved going for regular walks through the neighborhood.

She was a wonderful mother and cook.

She will be missed and remembered by her daughter, Jill Meredith Vincent; grandson, Alan Michael Meador; granddaughter, Kara McKenzie Meador; a wonderful friend, Renee Gilbert; as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
