Martha W. Beam

Martha W. Beam, 82, of Martinsville, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. She was born on March 30, 1941, in Welch, West Virginia, to the late Elder Archie White and Hettie Wyatt White. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Henry Beam; one son, Bennie Bridgmen; one daughter, Melissa Beam; a brother, Freddy White; and a sister, Emily White.

Martha was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Eden, North Carolina. She loved Jesus and praised His name. She was a homemaker and took pride in taking care of her husband, children, and grandchildren. She had such a big heart; she never met a stranger and loved everyone. She was everyone’s adopted “Granny.”

Martha is survived by four daughters, Connie Melton Day, Hettie Lou Carroll, Shirlie White, and Crystal Beam Gasque; two sons, Dwight Keevin Beam and Zackery Kellam; a numerous number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of adopted grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 11, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at the Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Tyrone Staples officiating. A burial will follow immediately after the service at Roselawn Burial Park.
