Marvin Lynn Pedigo
Marvin Lynn Pedigo, 95, of Roanoke, Virginia, passed on to his heavenly home on December 21, 2024.
Marvin was born in Roanoke, Virginia, to Lewis and Philomenia Pedigo on December 30, 1928. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1947. He was employed by Mick-or-Mack for over 30 years, during which time he proudly served two years in the Army during the Korean War. He owned and managed L & L Peakland Market in Lynchburg before concluding his grocery career at Harris Teeter. Post-retirement, he held positions with Roanoke Gas Company, Big Lots, Dominion Courier, and Lawrence Transfer.
Marvin was known for his love of people, his friendly and caring nature, his strong work ethic, and his contagious smile. He found joy in connecting with others and was a dedicated worker in every role he held. He also volunteered with Junior Achievement, where he shared his business knowledge and passion for helping others succeed. Above all, Marvin was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. His most treasured moments were spent with his family at their homes in Salem, Glen Allen, and Smith Mountain Lake.
Marvin is survived by his daughters, Lynne Webb (Larry) of Smith Mountain Lake, and Lorrie Andrews (Jay) of Glen Allen, Virginia; two grandchildren, Phillip Andrews of Charleston, South Carolina, and Kathryn Andrews of Glen Allen, Virginia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 63 years, Kathryn Thompson Pedigo; sisters, M. Virginia and Frances S. Pedigo; and brothers, Lewis H., Robert A., and James W. Pedigo.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and residents of Davis and McDaniel Veterans Care Center for their outstanding care, love, and support.
A celebration of Marvin’s life will take place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the John M. Oakey & Son Chapel located at 305 Roanoke Boulevard in Salem, Virginia. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2 p.m., and the funeral service will immediately follow at 2 p.m. He will be laid to rest at Sherwood Memorial Park located at 1250 E. Main Street in Salem, Virginia.
