Marvin Nicely

Mr. Marvin Andrew Nicely, age 90, of Covington, died Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Brian Center Nursing Care - Alleghany, Low Moor. He was the husband of Carolyn Byer Nicely to whom he was married to for forty-seven years.
Mr. Nicely was born June 8, 1933 in Alleghany County, the son of the late Andrew Edward Nicely and Clara Peters Nicely. He served his country as a member of the United States Army as well as serving in National Guard of Virginia and in the reserves of the Army of the United States. Marvin was employed by the U.S. Corp of Engineers where he worked in the maintenance department. Mr. Nicely was a member of Greenwood Evangelical Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed farming in his spare time.
In addition to his wife, Carolyn, Mr. Nicely is survived by a brother, F.A. "Dick" Nicely; special nieces and nephews, Suzanne Byer, Kinlee Ratliff, Addyson Burkholder, Timmy Nicely and wife, Libby and Willie Nicely and wife, Diana.
In addition to his parents, Andrew and Clara Nicely, Mr. Nicely was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Arthur Nicely, Bill Nicely, Edna Hartless, Viola Marrett, Harper Nicely, Lee Nicely, Wilbur Nicely, Bertie Jones and Ruby Minnicks.
A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from the chapel of Loving Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Matlack officiating. Interment will follow in Emory United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Travis William, Timmy Nicely, John Batten, Larry Peters, Dale Boguess, Chris Hensley and Willie Nicely. Honorary pallbearers will be David Chestnut, Ira Smith and David Byer.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 11:30 A.M. until time of service at Loving Funeral Home.
